A MAN who broke the jaw of an intoxicated man outside a pub in Keighley has been jailed for 14 months.
Christopher Burridge, 23, had himself been drinking when he took John Fawcett out of the Albert pub, led him away and knocked him to the ground with a single blow.
Bradford Crown Court heard that Burridge made a second physical contact with Mr Fawcett as he was knelt or crouched on the ground.
Prosecutor Michael Smith said Mr Fawcett was left unconscious and had to have surgery to insert metal plates and screws in his broken jaw.
Mr Smith told the court the victim had since been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and still had problems eating and shaving.
Burridge, of Rosemount Court, Sutton, pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding.
His barrister, Clare Walsh, said her client had let drink get the better of him. He worked full-time and had been law abiding since he was a teenager.
Jailing him, Judge Jonathan Rose said pubs were places of entertainment where people should be able to go safely and get home from safely. There had to be a sentence to punish the defendant and deter others.
