TALENTED young musician Sam Craig has been named the country's top accordion player for his age group.
Sam, a pupil at Settle CoE Primary School, became the seven years and under champion at the UK Accordion Champion event held at the Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool.
He received high marks for his musical performance and received a very positive critique from the adjudicators.
His music tutor, Harry Hinchcliffe, said: "Sam is a dedicated student who works hard and has a great attitude to learning. He is doing very well and has a bright future ahead."
Headteacher, Richard Wright, said in addition to learning accordion, the school offered a range of music opportunities, including piano, and various string and brass instruments.
"The school has also been part of a wider opportunities music project which allows children to be introduced to a range of musical instruments and learn to play as an orchestra," he said.
