POLICE have been carrying out extra patrols in Bramhope due to a spike in burglaries.

There were three break-ins in the village last week, between Tuesday, April 18 and Thursday, April 20.

The first took place at about 3pm on April 18 when the lock of a property on Old Lane was snapped and an intruder got inside.

They left with some high value jewellery and passports.

The other two incidents both involved outbuildings and took place overnight on April 19-20.

One involved a garage door at a house on Leeds Road being forced open, though nothing was taken. The suspect did, however, enter the resident's car and stole several personal items.

The second break-in was on Church Hill where someone broke the lock on a shed to get in but left without taking anything.

The local Neighbourhood Policing Team, which has stepped up patrols, is asking residents to be vigilant.

Householders concerned about their door locks or general security are asked to send an e-mail to OuterNorthWest@westyorkshire.pnn.police.uk .
