A GUISELEY bar is celebrating its first year in business by raising money for a charity which helps seriously ill children.

Everybodys will hold a weekend long extravaganza of free live music and entertainment and fundraising for Marty’s Penny Bank. The charity was set up by the parents of young Guiseley boy Marty Bishop, who was born with the rare heart condition, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Customers will be given a free glass of fizz and nibbles on Sunday, April 30. Over the weekend there will be two special birthday cocktails available, with £1 from each going to Marty’s Penny Bank, which raises vital funds and awareness for Great Ormond Street Hospital and Cardiomyopathy UK.

Six-year-old Marty was diagnosed with the disease before he was born and his parents were warned he was unlikely to survive until birth. But he defied the predictions and is now leading a near normal life under the watchful eye of the renowned hospital.

Marty said: "Thank you for the money which we are going to give to Great Ormond Street and for helping people with special hearts. I hope you enjoy your cocktails."

Everybodys was opened in April 2016 by businessmen Adam Lewis and Paul Glendinning. Their company Twisted Bars along with two other local investors, is now developing a new venue in Ilkley, The Ticket Office, which is set to open in the summer.

Ali Allawa of Twisted Bars said: "The last year has been challenging at times, but it has been hugely successful and a lot of fun. We’ve had amazing support from the local community and we’re genuinely grateful for all the fantastic reviews, lovely comments and, in particular the publics votes, that lead to us achieving Best Independent in the EAT awards. The team have collectively worked really hard to ensure the venue became a part of the Guiseley community and we feel that we’ve achieved that.

"Along the way we’ve loved initiating and playing a key part in the fundraising for the 'Guiseley Lights', raising money for local charities and providing a place that, we feel, is welcoming to everybody."
