INFORMATION is just a text message away for Keighley householders hit by power cuts.
Electricity distributor Northern Powergrid is urging people to sign-up to its free messaging service.
Under the scheme, anyone affected by a power cut receives updates direct to their mobile phone.
Last year, the company issued more than 1.44 million text messages as part of the initiative.
Customer service delivery manager, Chris Morris, said: "Our investments mean power cuts aren't an everyday occurrence for the vast majority of our customers, but if they do happen we realise that knowledge and information is key.
"People want to know what's happened, what we're doing and when we'll get their lights back on.
"If we have a fault on our high voltage network which causes a power cut for a large number of customers, we can send a series of texts to those affected to update and reassure them.
"We can also send reminders about any planned work we're doing which might require a temporary disruption to their electricity supply."
