CRAVEN people are being offered the chance of attending free suicide prevention training in Skipton.
The internationally recognised Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) course will run over two days in May.
The interactive course will aim to equip people in suicide intervention and the confidence to use it in day to day life. It will be useful to anyone who may come into contact with someone who has had thoughts of suicide, or who comes into contact with groups at increased risk of suicide.
Cost of the course is usually £200, but will be free to Craven people after organisers, York Mind received funding from North Yorkshire County Council.
It is open to anyone over 16 years old who lives or works in the area. It will take place on May 11 and May 12 at a venue to be fixed. To find out more, email : mark.willis@yorkmind.org.uk. For more information about the development of ASIST visit the website: livingworks.net
