AMATEUR jockeys will put their nerves to the test on Saturday, April 29 when they take part in a charity event at Skipton Races.

The annual point to point organised by the Pendle Forest and Craven Hunt will once again include a flat race for amateur jockeys.

In aid of children's cancer charity, Candlelighters, the 1.5 mile race is open to all riders, on any type of horse. All riders need to do is raise a minimum of £250 sponsorship to take part.

Build up to the races, at Heslaker Farm, off the A59 near Broughton, will start at 11am, with the first race taking place at 2pm, following the Candlelighters charity race at 1.15pm.

There will be bookmakers, trade stands and plenty of refreshments to make it an exciting day for all the family.

Gates open at 11am, admission £10 for adults, and free for children under 16.
