A DRAMATIC reimagining of a Jane Austen classic will be performed at Otley Courthouse this month.
Box Tale Soup will present their take on Northanger Abbey, Austen's celebrated satire - first published in 1817 - of the gothic novels of the day, on Friday, April 28.
The book tells the story of the young, naïve and unlikely heroine Catherine Morland and her journey to Bath, where she is introduced into Society.
She then falls in love and allows her overactive imagination to get the better of her.
Box tale Soup’s adaptation features a cast of just two human performers and seven handmade puppets. The production aims to remain as faithful to the original work as possible, taking most of its dialogue straight from the novel.
This, combined with the use of puppetry, has made the production a hit with Austen lovers and sceptics alike.
The show has received glowing reviews including from actress and TV presenter Joanna Lumley who hailed it as "an enchanting production" that leaves the audience "completely mesmerised."
Noel Byrne and Antonia Christopher formed Box Tale Soup in 2012 and their previous acting credits include the BBC's Dr Who, The Hour and HBO's award-winning Game of Thrones.
Tickets for Northanger Abbey cost £11 or £9 for concessions and can be booked by visiting otleycourthouse.org.uk, calling (01943) 467466 or popping into the venue, on Courthouse Street.
