OTLEY'S Chevin Cross is once again overlooking the town in readiness for Easter.
More than 50 people assembled at Surprise View on Saturday, April 1 to help pull the 36ft high cross into position.
The brainchild of the Otley Council of Christian Churches, the structure first went up in 1968 and has been raised each Easter since - apart from 2001, due to Foot and Mouth disease.
The structure is traditionally installed a fortnight before the Easter weekend and then taken down two weeks after it.
A service, open to all, will be held at the foot of the cross at 7am on Easter Sunday, April 16.
