SOUTH Craven MP Julian Smith has hosted an annual school leaders' lunch.

He invited student leaders and headteachers from secondary schools across his constituency to the event, at Burnsall.

Mr Smith spoke about his Parliamentary role and answered a range of questions, covering topics from future energy policy and the EU to selective schools.

There was also a talk by brothers Phil and Andrew Davies, of event sponsor Principle Healthcare.

They outlined how graduates, apprentices and school leavers could succeed in the business environment.

Mr Smith pays tribute to the students.

"They travelled with their teachers from across the constituency to take part and I thought they asked me some excellent questions about the issues that matter to them," he said.

"Talking to each of the students, I was struck by their diverse interests and impressive prospects.

"I wish them all the very best for the future, particularly those with exams coming up."
