A FORMER Ilkley Grammar School student is taking on the challenge of climbing Africa's highest mountain to raise money for the charity Childreach International.

Eleisha Lord, who is a current first year Geography student at the University of Salford will climb 6000m up Mount Kilimanjaro in June this year - if she can raise enough money between now and then.

She said: "This is not only a challenge that will push me to my limits but one that will be helping Childreach International’s fantastic child rights projects.

"Childreach International is a charity which focuses on maximising children’s potentials by improving their access to healthcare, education and empowering children by understanding their rights in Tanzania, India, Brazil, India, Morocco and Nepal.

"Childreach have helped over 800,000 children over the last ten years and projects such as their ‘School Farming’ in Tanzania have been recognised by the UN World Food Programme.

"In order to raise money for this amazing charity, I will be fundraising throughout this year in various ways: bake sales, car-boot sales, and bag packing. If I reach the £2,985 target, I have been set I will be completing the final challenge of my fundraising mission by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro on the 8th June 2017."
