THE Ilkley fundraising committee for Macmillan Cancer Support held their annual quiz night at Ilkley Playhouse recently and raised more than £1,000 on the evening.
Always a fun evening that includes a fish and chip supper to boost the brainpower, teams of friends and work colleagues from Mortens Hardware and Allison Macrae Architects tackled a testing quiz devised by quizmaster Mike Greensmith. The winning team was from Allison Macrae Architects.
Chris Martinez, chairman of the organising committee, thanked everyone for their continued generous support for the evening and other events. It is the 25th anniversary of the committee this year and it is hoped that, with contributions such as this, an amazing £250,000 will have been raised for Macmillan Cancer Support during that time. Projects such as the Macmillan badged nurses and Survivorship Manager working out of Airedale Hospital and the Macmillan Call Centre in Shipley have all benefited from the generosity of local people.
