YOUNGSTERS immersed themselves in everything French when they enjoyed a fun-filled day of language and culture.

Pupils from St Oswald’s C of E School, Guiseley, and The Froebelian School, Horsforth, dressed up in the colours of the French flag, watched a French play, Bon Voyage, performed by the Flying Theatre Company and learned a French rap song during a visit to The Grammar School at Leeds.

GSAL principal Sue Woodroofe, who had spent a number of years as head of the British School of Brussels was delighted to have the chance to use her French again as she ‘parleyed’ with the youngsters.

The activities were led by Vicky Cooke, GSAL Junior School French teacher, with help from language teachers and assistants from senior school, along with sixth formers.

Mrs Cooke said: "Our French day provided an opportunity for visiting pupils to join GSAL pupils and have fun with French outside the classroom."
