AN ENTERPRISING cub has appeared on Radio 2 to talk about his fundraising efforts for the Burley-in-Wharfedale Scout and Guide headquarters appeal.

Oscar Shinn spoke to Chris Evans on his Radio 2 breakfast show about the pyjama parties he organised to raise money for the HQ appeal. Oscar held a pyjama party at every meeting for a week at the present scout and guide hut and provided party guests with hot chocolate, biscuits and a bedtime story - acted out by the leaders for the children - in return for a small donation for the appeal. Oscar raised a total of £126 and his parents and cub leaders are very proud of him.

They are also proud of his appearance on national radio when he went on the Chris Evans breakfast programme to tell everyone what he was doing in the "kids doing something for the first time" slot of the programme. He was then back on the following day to report back how the first night went.

Chris Evans was so impressed he pledged some cash to the Hut Appeal. Oscar told Chris that the best part of the night was when the leaders acted out the bedtime story!
