LOCAL team GB Triathlon heroes, Alistair and Jonny Brownlee, opened the doors to Aldi’s new Guiseley store this morning at 8am to over 300 queuing customers.

The duo handed out golden envelopes to the first 100 people in the queue, each containing a prize. Lucky customers walked away a variety of prizes including a 48” TV, Garmin Sat Navs, Dashcams, DAB radios and bags of Aldi shopping worth up to £30.

Players from Guiseley Juniors Girls FC were also in attendance, following a kit sponsorship deal from the store. Aldi will also be donating a range of products to the 2nd Guiseley Brownies to aid their weekly activities in the coming weeks.

Alistair Brownlee, said: “We’re delighted to have opened Aldi’s new Guiseley store and have thoroughly enjoyed meeting the staff, customers and the team from Guiseley Juniors Girls FC. Being Olympic athletes, we know how important it is to have access to fresh, high quality, healthy produce and the range on offer at Aldi will allow local customers just that.”

Jonny Brownlee, added: “Being Yorkshire men ourselves, it’s great to know that the community will have more access to great value produce and will benefit from the jobs created by the new Aldi store.”

Aldi store manager, Daljit Sandal said: “It was great to see so many customers enjoying the Golden Ticket event this morning and we would like to thank the Brownlee Brothers for coming along to help us celebrate.”

The opening of the Guiseley store has created 17 new jobs for the local community. Aldi is still recruiting for store assistants in the area, more information about how to apply can be found at: www.aldirecruitment.co.uk.
