A NEW group called Natter will hold its inaugural meeting in Ilkley next week.

It will be held in Church House at All Saints Church in Church Street, on Wednesday (January 18) from 10.30am to 11.30 am and is intended for people aged 60 years and over and is intended to provide a relaxed and friendly place for a chat in good company whilst enjoying a hot drink.

The Rev Pat Reid, Associate Minister of All Saints Church, Ilkley said: "Natter has been planned in the awareness of the fact that for some folk in this age range, circumstances change and opportunities to chat with friends or family become less frequent.

"Yet we all know how enjoyable it is just to be with friends and have relaxed conversation. Some in society, and certainly in this age group, can find themselves isolated or perhaps short of company. Others just enjoy being with people and would welcome any new opportunity for this. Natter is for anyone in this age range, and it will just be a drop in coffee place, where a team from the church will be there week by week and will make it their responsibility to ensure that all who come are made welcome and put at ease, encouraging conversation in a friendly environment.

"We aim to address, in some small measure, a problem in society of loneliness or isolation, by presenting a warm, friendly and welcoming venue where people can just enjoy a good natter in good company.

"If you are interested, just come along, or if you have a neighbour or relative who might enjoy Natter please give them details and invite them.

We invite you to ‘Natter’! The first session is on Wednesday 18th January, 10.30 – 11.30 in Church House, All Saints Church, Church Street.
