THE Ilkley Labour Party has begun its campaigning this winter to protect local NHS services.

They were out on The Grove in Ilkleu on Saturday collecting signatures for a petition against the Conservative Government's policies towards the NHS.

Hamish Yewdall, local Labour Party campaigner and Ilkley resident said: "Six years of Conservative governments underfunding the NHS is taking its toll, the services we rely on are underfunded, there is a clear lack of both doctors and nurses and every week we seem to hear of another service being closed. The proposed centralisation of facilities is an example of resource management when all the resources are in short supply. The government is overseeing a crisis in the NHS and seems to have no intention of listening to professionals and funding the NHS properly."
