AN ILKLEY Air Cadet staff member has received a commendation after being named on the Queen's 2016 Birthday Honours List.
Warrant Officer (ATC) David Wood, who has been a member of 1224 (Wharfedale) Squadron, Air Training Corps for over 20 years, was recently presented with his Air Officer Commanding 22 (Training) Group's Commendation at the Galtres Centre in Easingwold by the Lord Lieutenant for North Yorkshire, Mr Barry Dodd CBE.
Warrant Officer Wood has put countless hours into the Squadron over the years, helping hundreds of young people in the process. In particular he has been the driving force behind the Squadron's hugely successful charity collections for both the Royal British Legion and the Royal Air Force Association.
Everybody at the Squadron would like to pass on their congratulations to David on receiving this very special award.
