MEMBERS of the Ilkley branch of Guide Dogs will be holding two more fundraising days during October.
The first is at the Tesco Superstore in Springs Lane, Ilkley on Saturday (October 22). Volunteers will be helping with a collection and Addingham Beaver Scouts will be bag packing.
The Guide Dogs Sensory Unit will be there and shoppers will be invited to take a tour of the tunnel to experience what living with sight loss is like. It alters peoples’ perspectives and tests their senses, allowing them to step into the shoes of a visually impaired person and to experience the many challenges they face on a daily basis.
The second fundraising event is a coffee morning at St Mary's Parish Centre in Station Road, Burley in Whafedale on Saturday, October 29 between 9.30am and 11am. As well as coffee there will be a range of guide dogs merchandise to buy, and a tombola and raffle.
Andrew Barton a member of the Ilkley and District Guide Dogs Fundraising Group said: “You will be able to meet working guide dogs with their owners at both events and to find out about the life changing work that Guide Dogs do. Please come along and say hello.”
