TWO hugely successful Glitz and Glamour Masquerade Balls raised a massive £17,080 last weekend for the Burley-in-Wharfedale Playground Project.

Held at the Queen's Hall in the village, guests arrived from 7pm and were treated to a Flash Mob from the BTA Performance Academy from Menston. They then enjoyed a three course meal made by top chefs and father and son team Andrew and Luke Smith.

Magician Arron Smith delighted people with his magic and DJ Paul Arnett ensured that everyone was up on the dance floor for the rest of the night.

Organisers, Rachel Salvin and Rachael Robinson thanked sponsors: One Medical Group; Hendersons Insurance Brokers; Aireborough Decorating Centre; Jacrac Displays Limited; Niche Design Architects; The Carriage; Kernahan Construction; LFW Podiatry and Chiropodist and Gordons Solicitors, whose generosity ensured all costs were covered and every penny raised was for the new playground.

Rachael Robinson added: "I'd like to thank absolutely everyone who's been involved over the last six months of planning and helping with everything - it wouldn't have been possible without them."

The money means the project has raised £52,080 since January this year.

Next week, the Project, led by Rachael Robinson, will find out whether an application for a £50,000 injection has been successful. The overall cost for playground equipment, installation, flooring and fencing is around the £120,000 mark.
