AN ILKLEY chiropractor and his son are performing together at Bradford's Alhambra Theatre.

John Rees and his 11 year old son, Jacob, began their run in A Tale of Two Cities on Tuesday, October 4 and will finish on Saturday, October 8.

The pair are part of the ensemble in The Touring Consortium and Royal and Derngate Northampton's acclaimed adaptation of Charles Dickens' tale of revolutionary France.

Mr Rees, who works at Ilkley Chiropractic Clinic, said he was delighted to be taking part in such a prestigious production - especially with his son by his side.

Speaking before the first show, he said: "To take a curtain call with Jacob in front of such a large audience will be amazing.

"To be involved with professional actors and professional production staff is an immense privilege and humbling experience."

Jacob, who plays the role of a little peasant boy who meets a tragic end in the play, has only performed in school nativities before now.

He told the Ilkley Gazette he was very excited to be appearing at The Alhambra, adding: "I even have my own dressing room with its own shower and everything."

The show has previously been put on in Oxford, Nottingham and Richmond to rave reviews.
