JOZE School of Dance entered 45 students into dance exams this year across the disciplines of ballet, jazz and theatre-craft. They are delighted to announce that 100 per cent of their students achieved not just a pass level but either a Merit or Distinction grade from the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA) examination board.
This is undoubtedly a credit to the high quality of teaching at Joze given that exam entrance is not selective and the result of the strong support that the students receive from Jo Sproston and her team, including an intensive mock exam practice. Sally Kennedy, mother of Joze ballet pupil Evelyn Kennedy, aged six said: “Parents were encouraged to watch the mock exam and it was an eye-opening experience to see just how much the children needed to remember and how much discipline and attention to detail is required to perform at this level."
Among the outstanding performances from the older pupils, Andrew Rabbage and Livia Hammond both received very high distinctions in the Intermediate Theatre and Crafts exam. Daniel Hatton (not pictured) returned to Joze for the summer break from Urdang Performing Arts School in London. He achieved over 90 per cent in both his Gold Bar 1 Modern Jazz and Theatre Craft Medal exams.
