PEOPLE are being invited to learn more about the work of the care trust which runs a mental health centre at Airedale Hospital and shape its future.

Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust is staging two meetings next week, which the public is encouraged to attend.

Achievements from the past year and future plans will be outlined at the annual members meeting on Tuesday (Sept 27).

There will also be a chance to put questions to board members.

And people's views will be sought to help develop services.

The trust has elected-governors covering six areas of the district, including Keighley and Craven.

Chairman Michael Smith said: "Through the range of services we provide, we can support people's physical and mental health needs.

"We would like people to be involved in shaping the future of those services and contribute to our plans for the year ahead.

"We're always looking for opportunities to improve our services and would like to hear ideas."

The meeting is at City Training Services, 39-41 Chapel Street, Bradford.

Registration is from 4.30pm, governor drop-in sessions are from 5pm to 5.30pm and the meeting starts at 5.45pm.

Places can be booked and questions submitted in advance by e-mailing ft@bdct.nhs.uk or calling 01274 228381.

People unable to attend can follow the event on Twitter @Bradford_DCT.

The public is also welcome at the trust's monthly board meeting, next Thursday (Sept 29).

The meeting will hear how patient and carer experiences are impacting on future services.

A story of how one carer has received support from the trust's community dental service will be spotlighted.

Swarngit Shahid, clinical director for the community dental service, said: "We have looked at every area of our service to see how we can make it more dementia friendly.

"Dental clinics across the area have been assessed and work is under way to make them a calmer environment for the treatment of patients with dementia.

"Some key changes have already been made, such as simplifying signage to make it less confusing."

The meeting is at the trust's premises in New Mill, Victoria Road, Shipley, from 10am to 12.30pm.

The agenda and other documents are available at bdct.nhs.uk/board-papers.
