OTLEY'S World Champion cyclist Lizzie Armitstead is to launch her autobiography after the Rio Olympics.

Steadfast: My Autobiography, from Blink Publishing, will go on sale on September 8.

Lizzie announced the first details about the book – now listed for pre-order via online stores – and posted a photo of the cover on her Twitter account this week.

She also Tweeted: "I had great fun putting down so many incredible memories and sharing my thoughts on my career – so much I wanted to say."

The book charts Lizzie's journey from being talent-spotted at Prince Henry's Grammar School in Otley, via her first medal in the Junior World Track Championships in 2005, right through to the present day.

The 27-year-old is currently World, Commonwealth and National racing champion, and an Olympic silver medalist, who will be aiming for gold at Rio.

The publicity material for the book says: "From the rolling hills of Yorkshire through to the treacherous climbs of the Vista Circuit in Rio de Janeiro – through setbacks, life lessons and ups and downs of a professional life in cycling – Steadfast is an intense and inspiring story of sporting triumph."
