TWO creative Otley students have launched their own 'crafty' business.

Hollie Russell and Rojin Ehsani Tehrani, from Prince Henry's Grammar School, have produced a range of handcrafted goods that features everything from doorstops and bunting to animal-decorated pencils and keyrings.

The Year 9 pupils spent hours in the school's design and technology rooms – and at home – sewing, gluing and ironing to create their products.

They displayed and sold the fruits of their labour at the first ever Leeds Teenage Market, held at Kirkgate Market earlier this month.

The pair also ran a stall at the recent Be Active, Be Healthy Fair hosted by Prince Henry's, to promote craftwork as a rewarding hobby for young people.

The school's area leader for design technology and innovation, Gina Williams, said: "Hollie and Rojin worked tirelessly to produce high quality textile items to sell.

"They are so good, in fact, that I have purchased them as samples to use in my lesson."

Rojin and Hollie added: "We both really enjoy crafting and Mrs Williams told us about the Teenage Market.

"We enjoyed the experience of selling at the market and met a lot of people."

Their products can be viewed online on Facebook by searching for H&R Crafties.
