SOME of Otley's most talented young gymnasts have been demonstrating their skills.

Trophies were also presented at Otley Rhythmic Gymnastics Club's annual display.

MP Greg Mulholland (Lib Dem, Leeds North West) was a special guest at the event, and handed out the awards.

He said: "I was pleased to be able to attend the club's annual display – Otley clearly has a lot of fantastic gymnasts coming through.

"All this is down to Karen Priestley and her team of coaches and the volunteers who assist the club, so a big thank you to all of them.

"The annual display was a chance to recognise their achievements, so a real well done to all the trophy and award winners."

Founded in 1980, the club teaches rhythmic gymnastics – a combination of gymnastics and dance using rope, hoop, ball, clubs and ribbon – to girls aged four and over.

It also coaches the students for national competitions.

Head coach, Karen Priestley, said: "I would like to thank Greg for attending our annual display and for presenting our special awards.

"The display went really well and the gymnasts were great. They have trained really hard and I am very proud of them all.

"I would like to thank everyone who attended to support our club."
