AIREBOROUGH Rotary Club has helped provide funding for a flood damaged nature reserve.
Some 350 metres of 'dead hedging' – barriers made out of branches and twigs – at Rodley Nature Reserve were destroyed by last December's floods.
The hedging had provided a habitat for birds, amphibians and hibernating mammals.
Determined to help with the recovery operation, Aireborough Rotary Club member Janet Kerr, who volunteers at the reserve, submitted a club bid to the Rotary District's Yorkshire Flood Relief Fund.
That proved successful, and the £1,602 grant will pay for the purchase of treated fence posts for the new, willow coppice hedging.
The volunteer-run reserve has hosted Aireborough Rotary Club's Easter egg hunt for the past three years and welcomes schools and youth groups for educational visits.
