A STREET party will be held in Guiseley to celebrate The Queen's official birthday.

Although the monarch's actual 90th birthday was celebrated on April 21, her official birthday will be marked in June.

And people in Guiseley are preparing to throw a right royal party.

Local celebrations are being organised by a committee led by Pudsey, Horsforth and Aireborough MP Stuart Andrew.

The street party will take place at Town Gate from 12.30pm to 4.30pm on June 12, and will include live entertainment, children's activities, stalls, cocktail bar, a raffle and a cake bake-off competition. Anyone attending is asked to take a picnic.

Committee member, Elizabeth Harrison, said: "We have had a great reception from local businesses, who have already donated sponsorship for the event.

"We also have more than 36 stalls at the event, who will be donating a percentage of their profits, unless they have agreed a lump sum up front. And we are bringing together an array of entertainment.

"On top of this, there will be VIP street party seating for the children. It is set to be a great day – we just need the weather to hold out for us."
