FOUR friends are setting themselves a one-day 72-hole golf challenge next month to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Jason Boswell, Dave Allister, Simon Hawkins and Darren Thompson plan to take the challenge at Otley Golf Club on June 30, and are hoping for more support from the community and local businesses, including fellow golfers to take on the challenge.
Mr Boswell's own family has been helped by the charity.
He said: "My father died too young of cancer and my wife has been fighting this disease for a number of years.
"Macmillan does so much to support them. I wanted to show support and raise funds so more can be done."
Several businesses have already got involved, and the four golfers plan to wear official shirts for the challenge, bearing the logos of businesses sponsoring them.
The team has set itself a £1,000 fundraising target. Visit justgiving.com/MacMillanOtleyGolfClub to donate or eventregister.macmillan.org.uk/longestdaygolf to register a team to take part.
