OTLEY Lions are teaming up with a ward councillor to put on a free First Aid training day.

The group has been supporting Cllr Peter Jackson (Lib Dem, Ashfield) in his bid – with assistance from Brian Firth, of Global First Aid UK – to get defibrillators installed across town.

The course will take place in the Bridge (United Reformed) Church's hall from 10am on June 4 and is free, though participants will be asked to donate to the Otley Defibrillator Appeal.

The First Aid training will be provided by the landlord of Otley's Yew Tree Inn, Brett Booth, who is a fully qualified and registered trainer and volunteer Rapid Responder.

Anyone wishing to do a certificated course can also book via Mr Booth on the day, when tea, coffee and sandwiches will be available.

Contact Cllr Jackson on 07799 465070 or Otley Lions president, Eric Booth, on 01943 467099 to reserve a place on the course.

Otley Lions have supported, under their President's Project for the past year, the campaign to get more publicly-accessible defibrillators – which can restart the heart in the event of a cardiac arrest – available locally.
