A STYLISH ballroom at The Craiglands Hotel in Ilkley was packed with over 200 guests to enjoy the tenth anniversary fashion show for Macmillan Cancer Support on Thursday.

The fashion show has become a go to evening to celebrate spring and summer fashions from ten retailers who support the local fundraising committee for this event each year. As always, the show was compered by John Thirlwell.

Guests sat down to a spring supper with surprise entertainment from the recently formed Ilkley men’s choir ‘Sing your Rocks off’, a response to compere John’s challenge to include more men in the show.

About 30 models also give their time each year to walk the walk for Macmillan and this year they included ten male models featuring menswear from Rackhams in Skipton.

To date the amount raised is in excess of £7,000 with more to come in. The success of this year’s event means that over ten years the fashion show has raised in excess of £60,000 for the charity.

Chairman Chris Martinez paid tribute to the many people who give their time and money to support the fashion show which aims to help local Macmillan projects which, this year, include the new Macmillan posts at Airedale Hospital and the Macmillan Support Centre at Shipley with its helpline 0800 808 0000.
