A RETIRED nurse from Burley-in-Wharfedale is urging people to take part in a run to raise money for a heart charity.

Cath Lewis, 68, took part in the BUPA London 10k two years ago in aid of Heart Research UK, and is now urging others to do their bit.

She said the run, past some of the country’s most iconic capital buildings, was one of the most enjoyable she had ever competed in.

"Apart from the fact you are running past some of the country’s most iconic buildings in the capital, it is also a fun event to be part of," she added.

"It’s not too hilly, and as the finish line is outside Buckingham Palace, it’s a great way to end the race."

The run takes place on May 30, starting at The Mall and following a route around the City of Westminster and the City of London. Runners will pass some of the capital's most famous landmarks, including St Paul’s Cathedral, the London Eye and Big Ben, before ending up in The Mall near Buckingham Palace.

Heart Research UK has guaranteed places available for anyone who wants to get involved and help raise money for the prevention, treatment and cure of heart disease. Visit http://heartresearch.org.uk/events/bupa-london-10000 or call Rachel on 0113 2976204 for more information.

Entry fee is £15 and Heart Research UK asks its runners to raise a minimum sponsorship of £150, but the charity will support runners along the way, with a running T-shirt, plenty of fundraising ideas and tools, as well as handy tips for training and nutrition.
