A CARE trust which runs a mental health centre at Steeton has pledged its commitment to a zero approach to suicide prevention.
Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust, which operates the centre in the grounds of Airedale Hospital, was among those represented at a conference which brought together agencies from across the region to share good practice and commit to reducing the number of people taking their own lives.
The event, at Bradford City's football stadium, was attended by over 150 delegates.
Emergency services, health workers, voluntary agencies and colleges were among those present.
Simon Large, the care trust's chief executive, said: "We are fully committed to the 'zero approach' to suicide prevention and have been inspired by hearing the experience of others who have adopted this aspiration.
"As a result of this conference we will contribute to the development of a West Yorkshire-wide zero suicide strategy and continue to work with public and private sector agencies and the public to create an awareness and support for actions that prevent suicide.
"We look forward to launching a comprehensive strategy later in the year."
