PEOPLE hit by devastating Boxing Day floods have only a few days left to claim for emergency funding.

The Government has announced a cut-off of date of February 16 for people to tell their local authority that they were affected by the flooding caused by Storm Eva on Boxing Day.

Latest figures show almost 670 homes and about 170 businesses have notified Bradford Council they were affected by the flooding at Christmas.

Bradford Council is in the process of assessing applications for Flood Recovery Grants, Council Tax discounts, Business Rate discounts and Flood Resilience Grants for those residents and businesses who have contacted them.

Flood Recovery Grants of £500 have been paid out to 626 households affected, totalling £313,000.

Council Tax discounts of about £150,000 have also been paid to help those in the Bradford district who have had to move out of their homes due to the flooding.

Flood Resilience Grants of up to £5,000 are available to help victims to install measures to prevent further flooding or minimise the damage cause by future flooding in their properties.
