ILKLEY Grammar School has again been ranked in the top 200 secondary schools across the UK.

The Sunday Times Top 200 State Secondary Schools List was published at the weekend, and the Ilkley school, in Cowpasture Road, said it was delighted to appear in the table, which compares schools nationwide based on its 2015 examination results.

The school was placed 192nd last year overall and has moved up to 166th this year out of all schools in the list. But when entirely selective schools are removed from the equation, IGS ranks 30th nationally.

The school is thrilled to have improved its standing in the league table.

Headteacher, Helen Williams, said: "As a comprehensive academy, our overriding aim at IGS is to ensure our students achieve everything they are capable of – their ‘personal best’ - from Year 7 through to sixth form and beyond.

"We are very proud of our excellent reputation in the local community, as well as the wider Leeds and Bradford areas, and pride ourselves on the quality of education we provide to our students. Ilkley Grammar School consistently achieves excellent examination results at both GCSE and A Level, and we are delighted this has been recognised in the Sunday Times Top 200."
