PEOPLE are being urged to give their fitness a boost and raise money for a brain tumour charity by taking part in a spinning class in Guiseley.

The local branch of Nuffield Health will run four sponsored classes on December 12 to raise vital funds for Brain Tumour Research and Support (BTRS) across Yorkshire.

Sessions will start from 8.45am and run for 45 minutes, with each consisting of 25 people.

Organisers of the spinning 'marathon' are hoping to raise £1,000 for the good cause. The event is free to members and non-members alike, but a minimum voluntary donation of £10 would be welcome, and participants are also being invited to get themselves sponsored for the event.

One of the organisers, David Gatenby, is a member of the health club in Guiseley. His son, Martin, is chairman of the brain tumour charity.

Community fundraiser, Ryan Marsh, said: "We are delighted Nuffield Health Guiseley has chosen BTRS to fundraise for.

"The money raised will be used to fund research and to support brain tumour patients in Yorkshire. We are hoping the spinning classes are fun and enjoyable for all people of all ages and sizes. Thank you so much to David Gatenby for all of his time and efforts."

Founded in February 2003, originally named Andrea’s Gift, BTRS is Yorkshire and Humber’s leading brain tumour charity, offering an holistic service across the region to all brain tumour patients, adults and children, as well as their families and carers, through support and research.
