STUDENTS and staff at Ilkley Grammar School really got into the spirit of Children in Need this year.
All students paid to not wear their uniform for the day, the school chose to use the colour blue and heroes as a theme, demonstrating their support for both Children in Need and anti-bullying week and the national #wearitblue campaign.
Alongside the donations for the non-uniform day the school also held their three-legged walk for their Year 8 students, where they walked around Ilkley tied to a friend!
There was an opportunity for students to throw wet sponges at their teachers and build Pudsey Bears out of collected loose change.
The Post 16 students also got in on the action holding a bake sale and challenging the staff to a basketball game.
The school raised a staggering £2,607 on the day and they are still counting the sponsorship money.
Chris Washington, assistant headteacher, was delighted with the fundraising efforts and said: "We love taking part in Children in Need activities at Ilkley Grammar School.
"It’s a charity that is very close to the students and one they can directly relate to. The opportunity to show our support for the anti-bullying campaign was an added bonus."
