WHILE the country is busy following this year’s Strictly Come Dancing series, Ilkley Grammar School has its very own ballroom champion to celebrate.
Meg Lenehan, 17, has just competed in the annual National ISTD Ballroom and Latin Grand Finals at The Winter Gardens Empress Ballroom in Blackpool.
Competing in the Junior Gold Star Ballroom and Latin events on October 31, Meg danced the tango in Ballroom to be awarded first place. She also danced the rumba in the Latin section on the same grade, to be awarded fourth place.
Sunday was another day of competition in which she reached the semi finals of the Sequence 3 Dance.
Meg has been a student of Windsor Ballroom in Bradford since she was eight years old, and has studied the ISTD Dance Syllabus in Modern Ballroom, Latin and Sequence Dance taking annual examinations in all these disciplines.
She has assisted in the dance school during the past few years, helping both the children and adult classes. She also danced with the younger pupils at Blackpool.
