MORE than 100 women took to the golf course to raise money for breast cancer.

Keen golfers from Otley, Ilkley, Horsforth, and Skipton got into the swing of things with others from across the county to raise £5,000 for The Yorkshire Haven Breast Cancer charity.

The event, at Rudding Park in Harrogate was the seventh annual golf day in aid of the charity which is based in Leeds and provides free therapies to anyone affected by breast cancer.

The event attracted competitors from all over the region, with women from more than 20 clubs taking part.

It was held during breast cancer awareness month and supported and sponsored by Chris Bowland of CDB Leeds wealth management services.

Participants were treated to breakfast before they teed off in glorious sunshine for the day’s pairs better ball competition, the evening event was held at the main house with a three course meal and prizes galore from the day's activities.

Yorkshire Haven fundraiser Nicola Burns, from Horsforth, said: "The Rudding Park Charity Golf day was once again a fantastic occasion for everyone involved, the atmosphere and weather was at its best with everyone having an amazing day and night."

The Yorkshire Haven in Leeds provides a free of charge, wide range of therapies which help people to deal with the physical and emotional side effects of breast cancer. No referral is needed and anyone is welcome.
