THE amazing delta bluesman, Kent DuChaine will be singing the blues in Ilkley - his only Yorkshire appearance.

Kent DuChaine began singing the blues in the early 1970s and has quite simply never stopped. He has opened for and performed with many of the greatest bluesmen including Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Bukka White, John Lee Hooker and Margie Evans.

In 1979 he teamed up with his beloved 'Leadbessie', a beat up 1934 National Steel guitar which never leaves his side and moved south from Minnesota to be nearer to the roots of the blues music he loved. He fully adopted the ‘blues life’, riding the rails and running the roads in an old Cadillac playing in a different venue nearly every night across the USA.

Kent established a partnership with the legendary Johnny Shines, who had been a travelling companion of Robert Johnson, the ‘King of the Delta Blues’. He performed and recorded with Johnny for three years until his death in 1992 and was a pallbearer at Johnny’s funeral.

In the 1990s Kent decided to spread the blues and started touring in the UK and Europe. He has completed over 100 overseas tours and recently played with Bill Wyman and Elliott Randall at the BB King Tribute concert in London.

Kent DuChaine will be in Ilkley on Sunday November 8t at Ilkley Moor Vaults (The Taps) at 8pm.
