Horbury Town 2 Otley Town 0

OTLEY Town fell to a West Yorkshire League Premier Division away defeat, but could count themselves a trifle unfortunate not to have come away with a point.

Once again they were under-strength, starting the game without several key players including central defender Jamie Simms and forwards Scott Cater and Toby Harris.

The whole game was evenly fought with both teams cancelling each other out, and neither goalkeeper really being called into serious action.

In a dour first half, Otley felt they should have had a penalty, but the referee waved away their strenuous claims.

The second half continued in a similar vein, but it was Horbury who took the lead when they produced the best move of the match to score.

An incisive move down the left wing ended with a pull-back from the by-line and a smart finish into the corner.

Town huffed and puffed to try to gain parity, but without ever really looking like doing so, and their fate was sealed by a late second goal for the home side, despite vigorous protests of offside from the Otley defenders.

This coming Saturday sees Town back at the Old Showfield against Brighouse Old Boys (2.30).
