A NEW breed of dog store got tails wagging when it opened its doors last Thursday.
Barkers, a new shop exclusively for canines, has opened up in The Grove.
It was officially opened by the 'VIB' (Very Important Barker), Pickle-Lilly, a two-year-old whippet chosen to open the store after she entered a Facebook competition to find local dogs to feature on the store’s pre-opening gallery.
She also won a well-deserved pamper session from spa manager, Charlotte Thompson, in the store’s own spa, which offers a variety of services such as grooming, nail clipping and other treatments.
Jo Ward and Sarah Carroll, Pickle-Lilly’s owners, said: “Pickle-Lilly had so much fun opening the new Barkers of Ilkley store.
“The store has a great selection of accessories, food and toys, and I know Pickle-Lilly is looking forward to her pamper session in the spa. We’d love to say thank you to Barkers for choosing Pickle-Lilly as the VIB for the evening – we are both very proud owners.”
Barkers also sells natural dog food and treats, a range of dog accessories and dog toys.
