THE Yard in Ilkley has once again achieved 100 per cent in its Cask Marque blind inspection for beer quality.

The scheme is operated by an independent body and is widely recognised within the industry as a key benchmark for beer quality and excellence.

The bar achieved 100 per cent in all areas inspected for the second year running. These are temperature, appearance, aroma and taste. Only about ten per cent of Cask Marque accredited pubs receive this perfect result, which is particularly unusual for a bar without a full-time cellar man.

Ali Allawa, of The Yard, said: “It’s just amazing we have received 100 per cent again and have received the recognition for the huge efforts the team have put in.

"We get a lot of customers that have travelled here especially to do the Cask Marque beer trail, but also have an army of loyal, local, regular customers, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their continued support.”

Alistair Macnaught, operations manager for Cask Marque, said: “Ali and his team should feel justifiably proud of this excellent achievement, which not only recognises the effort they put into serving the perfect pint but also acts as an independent guarantee of quality for their customers."

The Yard always have at least three Cask Ales available at any one time, as well as more than 20 craft beers in bottle, can or draft form.
