WOMEN and children from BrassNeck Theatre have raised more than £1600 for charity by taking part in the Race for Life.

Some members of the Aireborough-based group entered the Ilkley race while others took part in the Harrogate event, raising a total of £1667 to help fight cancer.

Not to be outdone, BrassNeck Chairman Richard Lloyd is busy training for the Great Yorkshire Run in Sheffield raising money for a charity close to his heart, Myeloma UK.

"Myeloma is cancer of the bone marrow for which there is still no cure," he said.

Though by his own admission a non runner, Richard has been training hard and is aiming to reach 10k by September 27. Visit www.justgiving.com/Richard-Simpson10/ to donate.

Fundraising will also take place for Ochre, a charity promoting awareness of oesophagal cancer and offering support to patients and their families,
