SILSDEN'S annual Proms on the Farm raised a record amount.

Delighted organisers have announced that the event, held earlier this month, coined-in £15,500.

An estimated 1,000-plus people converged on Sycamore Farm, Brunthwaite, for the charity extravaganza.

The event was opened by the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Joanne Dodds.

The programme of music featured the Sultans of Swing, the Big Bang and headliner the Skelmanthorpe Band, with soloist Sarah Halstead.

There was also an auction and raffle, with an array of donated lots and prizes.

"Some money is still to come off the total but we're absolutely delighted with the amount raised – for a small event it's fantastic," said Rosalie Holroyd, for the organising team.

Proceeds from the Proms, now in their 12th year, are split between Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice Manorlands and Silsden Methodist Church.
