A WELL known Ilkley Rotarian, retired businessman and instigator of the annual Ilkley Pancake Races, Geoffrey Maldwyn-Jones, has been chosen as assistant governor for 2015-2018 for the Dales group of Rotary clubs within the Rotary District 1040 which comprises the 79 Rotary clubs and 2468 members in the Yorkshire area.
Mr Maldwyn-Jones is known as Mr Pancake in honour of his role as one of the organisers of the annual Ilkley Rotary Pancake Races, which last year involved over 25 races and more than 300 local schoolchildren and participating adults from local businesses.
Next year's races will take place along The Grove in Ilkley on Shrove, Tuesday, February 9, 2016 organised as usual by the Rotary Club of Ilkley.
New Rotary Club members are always welcome.
