A FANTASTIC £3,400 has been raised in the Ilkley area during March and April as part of Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal.

The money was raised at the collections held at supermarkets and on the street during the appeal.

Leah Mitchell, local community fundraiser said: “We are delighted with the generosity the people of Ilkley have shown during the appeal this year and want to say thank you to everybody who donated and wore their Marie Curie daffodil in support of the appeal.

"We also would like to say a huge thank you and congratulations to the Ilkley fundraising group who have shown continued dedication to Marie Curie and who have worked hard in ensuring the collections were well organised and successful. On top of the £3,400 raised from the collections, a further £820 was raised from local businesses who had agreed to display the daffodil boxes in their premises so thank you to all the business owners who took a box.”

The Ilkley group’s next event is a ‘Blooming Great Tea Party’ which is to be held at Addingham Memorial Hall on Saturday, June 6 between 10am and 1pm. There will lots of refreshments and stalls on the day and everybody is welcome to attend.

Marie Curie is also encouraging people to have their own Blooming Great Tea Party. Visit mariecurie.org.uk to register and receive a free party pack which includes invitations, balloons, bunting, recipe ideas and posters.
