WITH all the hard preparation work done the organisers of the 2015 Otley Show are now just hoping for some fine weather.

The 206th show takes place at the Bridge End showground this Saturday, May 16, and is set once more to be an impressive showcase for the area's livestock, horses, poultry and produce.

Dog shows and races, birds of prey displays, sailing, a farrier's competition and live folk and brass music will all feature too, along with a host of trade and community group stalls.

The Stampede Stunt Company, meanwhile, will be aiming to dazzle the audience with an array of daring, horseback acrobatics - this time based around the 800th anniversary of the signing of the Magna Carta.

The Wharfedale Agricultural Society is confident its line-up includes something for everyone including, new this year, a special Otley Chamber of Trade marquee designed to promote the work of many of the town's businesses.

Show Secretary Janet Raw said: "We have had a very high number of entries in the Cattle and Sheep sections for Francis Caton's first year as Show Chairman.

"Hopefully we will be favoured with a warm dry day and the showground is looking good.

"Huge thanks to everyone for all they do to get the show organised - it's not just me, there is a lot of willing volunteers who give up a lot of their time to ensure we get it ready in time."

The day will kick off at 8am with the first horse and pony classes.

Tickets can be bought from many local shops in advance at a reduced rate, or on the day priced £8 for adults, £6 concessions, or £3 per child.
