AIREBOROUGH Festival has come to an end after two weeks of events to bring the community together.
With its motto of honouring the past, valuing the present and imagining the future the festival, which ran from February 9 to 21, aimed to allow local people to showcase their talents and ideas.
Organisers, Aireborough Neighbourhood Development Forum, also hoped to use the initiative to spread the word about neighbourhood planning and Leeds’s Development Plans, and to listen to what local residents and businesses have to say about designing a thriving town.
A packed programme of events included a vintage tea, crafts and arts, singing and talks about the airport, as well as a permanent display of Neighbourhood Planning in Aireborough.
The festival has been praised by Guiseley and Rawdon councillor Graham Latty, who said: “I would like to go on record as thanking Jennifer Kirkby and her hard working team for a magnificent effort, an effort which will I am sure bear fruit in greatly increased support for the Forum and an increased awareness of just what we have to lose if we do not keep up the fight to save Aireborough from the developers.”
