ILKLEY Summer Festival is to get about £4,000 from Ilkley Parish Council this year as festival organisers prepare for dwindling sources of funding.

Festival managing director Anne Hawkesworth said she was delighted with the support from the parish council, which will go towards equipment including a stage and lighting for a double celebration.

She said: “This money will be specifically earmarked to support the funding of the infrastructure on the big event, the double whammy day on August 15.

“From the the 40s to the 00s, it covers VE celebration with the In the Mood Miller band and Andrews Sisters in the afternoon, and in the evening Dolce Vita and dancing with Dominic Halpin.”

She added: “A big thank-you is due to the parish council as it is such a great relief to have received all of this money.”
